11 Amazing Benefits of Attending a Retreat

When was the last time you took some time for yourself? Some time truly for you. If you’re sitting there thinking that it was the last time you ran to Target by yourself or got a manicure, let me tell you…there’s a better way to get some time for yourself – and that’s by attending a retreat.

I’ve attended LOTS of retreats – for my health, for my business, for my job. And each time I’ve participated in a retreat, they’ve given me something that I never could’ve received by staying home. They’ve impacted me in ways that have been oh-so meaningful…and it’s why I’m such a fan of them.

Because the benefits are just priceless.

Now, if it’s been a while since you’ve gone on a retreat – or maybe you’ve never been on one – then you may be wondering what all the hullabaloo is about. Well, let me share with you some of my favorite reasons for attending a retreat – because I’m pretty sure when you read them that you’ll be saying to yourself, “I need to sign up for a retreat TODAY!”

1. Inspiration

If you want to be inspired, attend a retreat. No matter what type of retreat it is, the one thing you can count on is that you will be around like-minded individuals. And when you’re around people who have similar goals or are working on similar things that you are, it’s impossible not to get inspired by them. I’ve heard people say time and time again that they went to a retreat feeling stuck – but left feeling completely inspired by all the other attendees. Who couldn’t use that in their life?

2. Collaboration

In addition to being inspired by the other attendees, you’ll also find that you have the opportunity to collaborate with them. Whether it’s on a project you’re working on or simply sharing ideas, the collaboration that takes place at retreats is truly second to none. I’ve found some of my best business partners and collaborators by attending retreats – so if you’re looking to expand your network, a retreat is definitely the place to do it!

3. Reflection

When was the last time you took some time to reflect on your life? To really sit down and think about where you are and where you want to be? A retreat allows you to do just those things. It gives you the time and space to reflect on…YOU! And when you take the time to do that, amazing things can happen.

4. Learning

So, while I can almost guarantee that everyone on your retreat will be like-minded – they will not be just like you – which means that lots of learning can take place. And whether you’re attending a business retreat or a health retreat, or any other kind of retreat, there’s always something new that you can learn.

5. Conversation

If you’re looking for some good old-fashioned conversation, then a retreat is definitely the place to find it. It’s a time to put away the technology and just talk to people. I’ve had some of the best conversations of my life at retreats – and I’m sure you will too.

6. Friendships

Are you looking to make friends with people who understand you? Then retreats are the place to do so! When you find yourself in a place with like-minded women, it’s impossible not to connect with them on some level. The women I’ve met on the retreats I’ve attended are now part of my inner circle. We are so deeply connected because of the time we spent together – and it’s a bond that truly can’t be explained until you’ve attended one.

7. Fun

I’ve attended retreats all over the country, and I can say without a doubt that they’re some of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had. So many laughs. So many memories. So much joy. I say go for the fun alone!

8. Personal Growth

When was the last time you stepped outside of your comfort zone? It’s probably been a while – because it’s scary to step outside of your comfort zone. Often, we even try to avoid it. But I’ve attended retreats where I’ve had to face my fears head-on – and while it wasn’t always comfortable, it was always worth it. Because when you step outside of your comfort zone, amazing things can happen.

9. Feel Empowered and Gain Confidence

Do you need someone to help you overcome a hurdle? To help you feel empowered? You can count on your fellow retreat attendees to do that! They will lift you up. They will give you courage. They will make you feel like you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. The confidence and empowerment you feel will have you leaving the retreat feeling like you are ready to take on the world.

10. Find Your Purpose

Do you feel like something is missing in your life? I know I’ve felt that way. In fact, it wasn’t until I was on a retreat that I really came to understand what my purpose was – how I could use my skills to help women. A retreat gives you the opportunity to find your purpose. You can then take that purpose and start creating goals so that your vision becomes a reality.

11. Rest, Relax, and Recharge

Sometimes, life can be overwhelming. If you’re feeling stressed out and that you need a break, a retreat can certainly be the answer. It can be that pause you need to rest, relax, and recharge. And those things are all a form of taking action, too! I’ve attended retreats where I’ve been able to completely disconnect from the outside world and focus on myself – and it’s always been an incredibly rejuvenating experience.

So if you’re looking for an amazing experience that will allow you to grow as a person, make new friends, and have a lot of fun, then attending a retreat is definitely something you should do! In fact, I believe in them so much that I’ve created the Female Warrior Rally Retreat. It’s taking place November 3rd – 6th – and you should consider this your personal invitation!
