10 Tips That Help Me Be the Best Version of Myself

10 Tips That Are Helping me Enjoy the Summer

We still have a few weeks until Labor Day – which means it’s still summer! Woot! Woot!

What is it about summer that seems to make everything a little more relaxed? It’s not like work has stopped. Or that problems don’t crop up – they do.

But people just seem a bit happier – me included.

I’m going to say it’s because of the sunshine, warmer weather, and flip flops. (Flip flops and a pedicure are always going to put a smile on my face!)

But that’s not all!

There are a few other things that are really helping me enjoy the summer…and I thought I’d share them in today’s blog.

1. Pilates

You all know that Pilates is one of the things that grounds me. It’s MY time each week. It’s the time when I put the focus solely on myself and try to be in the moment. Time at River City Pilates is so well-spent – and brings back a bit of calm – even when work is C-R-A-Z-Y! (If you want to read more about how Pilates changed my life, you can go here!

2. Essential Oils to Help Me Sleep

I’ve mentioned essential oils in a few of my Instagram posts, but they are like my magic elixir when it comes to sleep. We went on vacation a few weeks ago – and I was sure to pack them – because if you’re anything like me – you only sleep REALLY well in your own bed. But my essential oils helped immensely – and I came home feeling rested and relaxed. Anybody else use essential oils?

3. Beauty Counter Products

Full disclosure (in case you didn’t know) – I sell Beauty Counter Products. And, while I never thought I would be jumping into the world of Direct Sales – I did with Beauty Counter because I believe in their products 110%! It’s clean beauty at its absolute best, and their sunscreen is fantastic. (You can check out the sunscreen here – and remember that new customers get 20% off their first order!)

4. Routine

Did you catch my blog on the “Top 10 Reasons Routines Rock”? While the summer can mean that routines get slightly out of whack for many of us – I still try to keep certain routines (like Pilates and sleep) in my day.

5. Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

Who’s with me when it comes to wanting to eat all of the fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer? The farmers’ markets and grocery stores are chocked full of so many healthy choices – and they just taste better in the summer, am I right?! (Don’t worry – I still have time for my peanut butter – in case you were worried.)

6. Time Spent with Family & Friends

Whether it’s a vacation with my husband or dinner out with friends, or time spent with my niece – summer is the ideal time to get together with family and friends.

7. Daily Call With Bert

While the miles may separate us, calls with Bert are part of my summer routine. Everyone needs a friend who listens to you, makes you laugh, or commiserates with you after a rough day.

8. Reading

In the summer, I tend to read a bit more, too. (Anybody else find this to be the case?) Whether it be books to help me at work or a “summer beach read,” – I’m loving the time to read with a glass of wine in hand.

9. Managing My Energy

As I said above, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean that work stops or issues don’t arise – or even the occasional crisis. But I’ve been working hard on managing my energy and making sure it’s focused in the right place at the right time – and this summer has been no exception.

10. Progress not perfection

And finally, I’ve been keeping this little motto in the back of my brain – because I’m definitely not perfect. Workouts get missed. I eat an extra spoonful of peanut butter on occasion. My energy can get misplaced. But I know that the majority of my choices are leading me down the right path – and progress is happening – even if it’s not perfect.

How About You?

So, how about you? Tell me about your summer? What things have been helping you make it fantastic? Drop a comment and let me know!
